You've got it, cradeldorf. The first 100 or so 604s (late 1944) had the black and white decal of the early to mid 1940s Altec Lansing products. Then the patriotic red, white and blue decals appeared, and continued on the speaker units until about 1947. Oval RWB decals remained on Altec transformers as late as 1952. The last of the 604s had a gray and gold decal, as did the 604B model which began in 1947 AFAIK.

You're very welcome Donald. Another feature of the early permanent magnet cone drivers was having the serial number stamped into the top plate as well as rubber stamped onto the decal. The 604 and 515 and possibly others had this feature for the first year or two. Altec was going gangbusters in the immediate postwar era, producing large numbers of the new permanent magnet drivers and Voice of the Theatre systems. I saved images from an ebay auction that showed a 288 driver with a serial number of about 5,800 and a hang tag date of September 1946... less than two years after its introduction.
